Belfast sink to stone trough how do I do it?

I have seen examples of belfast sinks being cleverly disguised to look like old stone troughs. Now I believe you mix sand peat and cement together mix to a paste then cover the sink that has already been prepared with PVA glue. Does anyone have experience of this befor I start...tips appreciated
