I don't understand about mattresses and bedframes?

Since we moved to our new house 3 years ago, our beds and bedframes have been all screwed up. I think the movers didn't emble the rails correctly, and now the beds are lopsided. Unfortunately, the frames for our bed in particular is adjustable with twist knobs, so that it's almost impossible to get everything aligned properly. I don't know how to make the frame/rails all the same height! Can anyone help me? I think our matress is pretty much shot after being like this for 3 years now. Also, what's a good, reasonably priced mattress brand? Should we purchase new frames, too? Is anyone out there an expert on beds? I NEED HELP! THanks. :)
