Keep in mind in studying french, that when you are in a situation like this, in that you have a subject a verb, and a direct, or indirect object, when you shorten it, the direct (or indirect) objects go before the conjugated verb. EX. Je fais les linges. becomes ------> Je les fais. Negated, this becomes Je ne fais pas les linges ------> je ne les fais pas. notice here, the negation works like a parenthesis around the direct object and the conjugated verb. I hope this helps!
