Bug in my apartment, I am mortified?

I had that roach problem when I lived in a third floor apartment in Washington DC in the 1960's. When I would turn on the light they would ter. I found an easy solution. I took a bottle of beer emptied half of it out and placed it at an angle inside a basket. The roaches would go inside the bottle, get drunk, try to crawl out but only slide backwards back to the bottom of the bottle. For 4 or 5 mornings I had bottles full of roaches. I just re-capped the bottle and threw it out with the garbage. In less than a week they are gone without toxic bug spray.
