Problem with CD-drive on my laptop. Any help please?

unplug the DVD drive from the laptop , start the computer then shut it off once it has rebooted replug the DVD drive and reboot, it's never worth "sending a report to microsoft", this can happen if you switch the computer off at the switch without shutting down windows, it has three emergency copies of the registry if you switch off four times in a row it creates a problem
