Could this be melanoma?

I've had this beauty mark/mole on my arm for a while now, but just started noticing some abnormalities. I don't know if it's always been like this, because I never paid too much attention to it until I went through a health panic recently (since my other symptoms have gotten better, my worries have diminished a bit, but this thing still concerns me). It's only 2 mm, so that's good, but it's very dark brown in the middle with shades of lighter brown that surround it. It also has a small growth coming off the side of it, but other than that it's symmetrical. It doesn't itch, the only colors are light and dark brown, no bleeding, no oozing, it's mindly elevated (it doesn't look that way, but if you feel it you can tell), and there's no crusting. I've recently gotten more concerned because I just notice some VERY light brown blemishes surrounding (though not attached to) it. I'm getting it checked out early tomorrow, but I want to know if this is just an atypical mole, or if it may be in fact melanoma. By the way, I'm an 18 year old male, and the last time I got sunburned was when I went camping two years ago.
