Xbox 360 game download question!!!!?

My xbox 360 made a ring scratch on my COD WAW cd and now it sometimes says unreadable and some maps online do not load. If i install COD WAW to my console using my friends cd do I need his cd in the console to play after the installation to the hard drive or can i used my scratched cd?
